Soccer!!

We had fun with soccer this fall!
Ally really got into it!  She's been begging me for years to play soccer so I finally let her.  She loved it!  Her first several weeks, she stayed right in the action.  Then they played a team that was really rough and pushed a lot.  She decided she didn't like getting pushed around so she stopped chasing the ball.  Instead she took more of a defensive roll.  She stayed on the outside of the action and more toward the other teams goal so that if the ball started moving in the other team's favor, she could stop it.  Her coach (and other teams' coaches) often complimented Ally on her ability to see the direction of the ball and position herself correctly.  She did great!
Ally was #4

Emmy was a little bit funnier on the field.  I only put her in because I thought she might enjoy taking on the same thing as Ally.  I think she was too young.  She had a hard time understanding the rules and point of the game.  At first, she kept trying to pick up the ball and would kick it around after it went out of bounds and the rest of the kids gave up.  Being the smallest and least engaged player on the field, she was often at the back of the group chasing the ball.  Her mood about the sport changed from week to week.  We were never sure if she was actually going to play or not.  She would often come running back to us for a hug in between plays--holding up the game.  At first we allowed it but we soon realized she wasn't going to give it up on her and stopped allowing her to come to us until she was done playing.  Many weeks, she spent more time talking to or whining at her coach.  One week, she refused to even go on the field the second half.  When she was in the mood to play, she seemed to enjoy herself.  But I won't be putting a four year old in soccer ever again.
Emmy was #3

Mother's Log November 2013 (Nov 20-30)

Nov 20
I took Kassi with me to the school to volunteer for Ally's class today because she wasn't feeling well enough to leave behind. Now I'm thinking I should have just stayed home. Kassi started wandering the hall but always came back within a few seconds and didn't enter any rooms. Except for one, the time she didn't immediately come back.  It was the boys' bathroom!! And I found her playing in a urinal!! That hadn't been FLUSHED!!!!! Yuck!!! Seriously, this toilet obsession this little girl has is getting old. And really discusting.

Nov 22
Over the last two weeks, we went through ten days of fevers. It was a medium high fever for five days with a bit of a cough that showed up on the third day. First Emmy had it, then Ally, then Kassi. Kassi's fever didn't last as long but her cough turned awful and she stopped sleeping for more than an hour at a time.  Her breathing became really noisy and we became worried so I took her to the doctor. Sure enough, it was croup. (It's been going around). I have never had a baby with croup before.  My poor little girl was having the hardest time breathing, especially at night,  and I was clueless to how bad it was. The doc gave her a steroid to help open her airways and last night she slept for almost eight hours.  She is a whole new kid today. Back to her happy self!

Nov 23
Hosted 32 people for an early Thanksgiving!  I love it when we get all the A cousins together!

Nov 24
Happy 80th Birthday GG!!!

Kassi spent several minutes just laying her head on Ally's lap during Sacrament Meeting. Then she got too noisy and had to leave the room. She did two laps, walking!!!!--waddling--around the church and only fell down once!  Emmy went with her and held her hand when she started to head in the wrong direction. It was so darling!  I love that my girls love each other.

Nov 25
Kassi slept all night!!  11 hours!!  It's been so long since she's done that... At least two months.  I stayed in my bed for eight hours!  Honestly, I can't even remember the last time I did that.

Nov 27
Emmy made me laugh today. She called me into her bedroom this morning and had laid out six different outfits. Each outfit was complete with color coordinating panties, socks, and headband. She wanted me to help her pick which one to wear.

Then we were waiting for Uncle Daniel to show up (he has come to join us for Thanksgiving!) and Emmy kept calling him the wrong name. We kept correcting her and finally she said, "That's his third name!"

Mother's Log November 2013 (1-20)

Nov 2:
Last day of Soccer!  Hurray!  We get our Saturdays back!  I will miss it though.

Nov 3:
We got our first real snowfall of the season!

Kassi takes 29 steps!!!!

Nov 5:
Kassi has given up crawling altogether. She prefers to walk now. :). Her favorite walking route is between my kitchen cabinets and the garbage can....  She is obsessed with the garbage can. It makes me worry. We have recently had our car keys and my battery charger with the camera battery in it disappear!  I have never had a kid take my battery charger out of the wall and cause it to completely vanish before.

Nov 7:
Jeremy heads out of town again for a couple days. I have come down with a nasty cold. Joy.

Nov 14:
We are all sick.  Everyone is sniffling and Emmy has a fever.  And SEP's have been throwing off my routine all week!  Kassi's still not sleeping and I'm cranky.  Good news, though... Jeremy is back and done traveling for a bit!!

Nov 18
Kassi has been walking around the house blowing on her sister's recorder.  She has also started randomly talking on a pretend phone.  Out of nowhere this morning she held her hand up to her ear and started having a conversation with someone.  She's getting so big.

Sami handed me a "maturation presentation" permission slip today.  I about had a panic attack.  I've talked with her a little bit about babies and reproduction over the last year but I am so not ready for her to be thinking about puberty!

Fall leaves!

The day before our first snowfall of the season was beautiful!
The girls headed outside to play in the leaves and I am so glad they did!
