Mother's Log February 2014

Feb 8:
Just had a great night out with Jeremy. Hurray for date nights when you don't have to pay a babysitter!!  No stressing about time or if the kids are behaving. No worrying about whether or not the kids are actually going to bed.   My mom and her friends have been staying here for a conference and took the kids so Jeremy and I could go on a nice looooong date.  Thanks Mom, Maure, and Ella!!

Feb 11:
Emmy came home from preschool today and announced that she is in love!  Apparently there a boy named Hector at her school was smiling at her. She then spent the rest of the day making notes and gifts for her "True Love."  Oh my.

Feb 13:
Happy Birthday, Mike. We miss you. Things just aren't the same without you.

Feb 14:
Will this holiday ever not be insane?  Why do we even have Valentine's Day????  (Other than to give children yet another holiday to OD on sugar)

I found out today that I get a new NIECE in July!!  Congrats Shaun and Penny!

We had the sister missionaries over for dinner tonight. They are so cute!  We loved having them!  They were very excites when they saw our girls. I guess Emmy is famous in their world. They came to visit in Primary last month and while there, Emmy jumped out of her seat and said, "EXCUSE ME!!  I have something very important to tell you!!!"  They now quote her all the time when preparing and planning their days. They thought it was so great to learn her name and where she lives!  They even made sure to take a picture before they left. Emmy, Emmy...

Oh!  And Ally lost another tooth today!  Her second top incisor!  She lost it at school and got to pur it in a tooth shaped container. She thought that was pretty cool!

Speaking of teeth, Kassi has a new canine--top left!!  Only two teeth left to go (one is on its way!) and we might get a little break before the two year molars hit.  I am NOT going to miss teething!

Busy Day!

Feb 15:
I have a new nephew!!!  Vincent Charles was born tonight weighing 10 lbs 9 oz!!!!  I can't even imagine....  Congrats Aaron and Kayla!!!  I can't wait to meet him!

Feb 16:
I am feeling very content tonight. I had a very stressful morning with Primary and spent the afternoon with a migraine but now I feel at peace. Maybe it's the drugs... :). I just love my family, my home, and my life.  What more could I ask for?

Feb 20:
Ally lost ANOTHER tooth!  Another top incisor!  She only has one left and the others haven't started to come back in yet. It's made for quite the goofy looking smile. She also can't bite into anything. Crazy!

Feb 21:
What the heck!!!  Kassi has been doing so good sleeping lately!  She was waking once a night about 75% of the time and sleeping all night the rest of the time. But on Monday night, she was awake for three hours!  She would let me put her back in the crib and then about 15 minutes later (right when I started drifting off again) she would cry out.  I tried everything!  I gave her pain killers, changed her diaper and pajamas, put numbing stuff on her gums, gave her some milk to drink.  I just couldn't figure out why she would suddenly stop sleeping. And I was suddenly haunted by memories of the months when Ally would sit awake for three hour stretches every night.  I don't think I could go through that again.   Anyway, Kassi continued this for three hours until I finally decided to let her cry and a very cranky Jeremy finally went in and put her back down. She wouldn't go to sleep for him either but she didn't cry out again. On Tuesday, her nap was only 30 minutes long. Tuesday night, she wouldn't go right back down when she woke so, in my exhausted daze, I forgot that she doesn't sleep well with us and brought her into our bed. She tossed and turned forever but finally fell asleep on top of Jeremy. I woke some time later and put her back in her crib. She woke up again later that night but went back down. At this point I was getting concerned that something might be wrong. An ear infection or something. Then on Wednesday she took a great 2.5 hour nap and slept all night!  But last night, she was up for hours again. She woke at 1:00 am and I went into her three times over the next hour.  When she cried out the fourth time at 2:30, I told Jeremy it was his turn. He brought her into our bed and she wiggled around while her parents slept until 3:30 when she insisted she needed my attention. She would lay there with her eyes closed and I would think she was asleep but then she would kick, or scream, or start singing or something. As if trying to keep herself awake. She didn't act like she was uncomfortable or in pain, just awake. Finally, at 4:30, I just got up. I put Kassi in front of the TV and tried to sleep on the couch. She finally fell asleep on the floor in front of the TV somewhere around 5:15. She had been awake for over 4 hours!  I put her in her crib and went back to bed for a whole hour before having to get up to get my kids off to school. (And my friend wants to know why I won't train for a 1/2 marathon with her!!!!). I informed Jeremy that either Kassi is going to scream it out tonight or he is going to have to take over and she is no longer allowed in our bed before 5am. Emmy was up a lot this week, too, until I sent Jeremy in instead of me.  I think it is time to take Mom away at night and I am willing to bet the wake ups will go away.  I know Jeremy needs to sleep for work but I can't be a good mom if I end up in an asylum because the lack of sleep causes me to go crazy!  We'll have to see how this weekend goes with Daddy in charge...

Feb 25:
Ally informed her carpool today that she wants to be a rock star. I think she's gotten a little too comfortable behind her play microphone Auntie gave her for Christmas...

Feb 27:
I am sooooo tired!  Skipped tennis today. I learned once before that trying to play tennis while buzzing just isn't a good a idea. It usually ends in pain because I've hit myself with the ball...or my racket.  I don't know what to do with Kassi. Sending Dad in didn't work. It just makes for a very tired, stressed, and cranky dad who is supposed to be gearing up for one of the biggest cases of his career right now.  So I was all set to just let her scream and, of course, she got sick. How can I let a baby who can't breath cry it out????  Argh!!

Feb 28:
Sami found out that she made it to the national level for Reflections!!!  Go Sami!!

Kassi slept all night last night. I didn't do a thing differently. But she has another new tooth.  Bottom left canine. Only one canine to go and maybe I can be rested on a regular basis!
