one year old!!!

Weeks later and I still can't believe I'm saying this:  My baby is 1!

Kassi is growing and changing so much right now.  It feels like every day brings something new.  She is still not walking but she is standing and pulling herself up onto things, and actually crawling (not army crawling) and climbing stairs, and she is into everything!  She has become a genuine mess-maker.  She found the one real plant I have in the house and loves to spread it's dirt on my carpet, she has become a pro at emptying the lid drawer and mixing bowl cupboard, she loves to get into wipes, tissues, games, cereal and chip bags, markers, crackers, etc.  And that's all in one day.  She's become so opinionated and energetic.  An expert at the temper tantrum.  She is already starting to fight naps because she doesn't want to miss out on things.  (Sound familiar?)  She loves watching people from her mommy's or daddy's arms but no one is aloud to touch until she has gotten use to them.
Just a super fun and super crazy little girl.  That's our Kassi.

Kassi weighed in at 17 lbs 1 oz at her first year appointment.  That's one whole once more than Sami and a good pound over her other sisters.  She is 27 inches tall.  She is still on the chart at the 2nd percentile in weight and the 4th percentile for height.  At least she's well proportioned.  She's just short and adorable.  The doc says she's double jointed pretty much everywhere which is why she's so hard to hold under the arms and may be why she hasn't started standing or walking on her own yet. Apparently it requires more muscle than regular joints.

Kassi got her two front teeth in just the last couple weeks (number three arrived around July 4 and the other a couple days ago).  She is currently working on four more teeth.

She's still my super sleeper when she's healthy and not in pain.  She sleeps 8pm to 7am every night.  I LOVE it!!  And she is very particular about being put in her crib to fall asleep.

I really do love this kid.  I couldn't imagine life around here without her.  She's such a joy.

While making her brownies for her birthday party:
Her first time climbing the stairs!
 So Proud of Herself
She made it up four stairs and got tired.  She laid there until she was picked up.
She now climbs all the stairs several times an hour.

She thinks she is a big kid and has rights to all the big kid toys such as Mom's iPhone and Nexus....

On the morning of her birthday, she woke up to some of her favorite things:
Balloons
Bongos she had picked from the store the day before
A box of tissues for her to make a mess with

Yes, if there is one thing this kid REALLY gets a kick out of, it's
BALLOONS!
(day of the summer party)
