In October, Jeremy and I had a little get-away. We went to Monterey, CA to a conference. He had to go for work, I went along for a much needed break. Kassi was an un-weened and free tag-along. :) While Jeremy spent the days in one workshop or another, I rested, wandered, and enjoyed some peace with Kassi.
Day 1
We spent our first night and day there with Auntie! Kassi and I just hung out and took it easy. We stopped by the Elephant Bar to take care of a craving of mine. They have a salad there that I just love and have been missing since we moved to Utah. Afterward, we went to get Mani/Pedi's. I was tempted to get Kassi's done... but didn't. Then we drove with Nick (in the rain and traffic) to Monterey to meet Jeremy. Kassi didn't care for the drive much. I had quite the time trying to keep her busy. :) That night, we had dinner with Auntie, Nick, and Jeremy at Bubba Gumps.

Day 2
I had originally intended to spend this whole day sleeping just because I could... but instead, I spent it in a state of slow, unstressful, peace. I took hours getting ready for the day and got a few things done that I'd been meaning to do. Then Kassi and I wandered. We spent a lot of time walking around Fisherman's Wharf and enjoying the views.
We met Jeremy for lunch at this little Crepe shop which was oh so yummy!
Just Strolling...
Then we went and enjoyed a fresh seafood dinner! We had a whole crab, and halibut, cod, and some other fish that I can't remember... We also tried white truffle mashed potatoes for the first time. They were interesting to look at but tasty!
Day 3
We met up with our good friends from Cali!
Scott, Jessica, Haley, Lindsey, and Aubrey joined us for lunch and a stroll around Cannery Row. The girls were bummed we didn't have our girls with us.
Haley and Aubrey.
While we ate at the Mexican place, we watched the dolphins in the Bay. Oh, how I miss living close to the ocean!!
Day 4
We caught an early church at our old ward. It was so nice so see our friends again and introduce them to Kassi!! I'm sure most of them thought we hadn't changed much because when we lived there I was toting around baby Emmy who looked very similar to Kassi. Yet, again, though, they were all bummed that we didn't have all our girls with us. After church, we headed home to the three little ladies I was missing terribly.
It was my first time being away from my older girls for that long. It was good for me--Jeremy says I need to work myself up to two weeks in Singapore in a few years--but it was nice to come home.
